Eli is ONE

This little guy was full smiles and excitement. He was also very busy and had places to go. I kept up with him though.

Eli's mom chose to have the shoot in Stillwater. What a perfect location. A photographer's dream. Now if I could get my husband on board to move there...  ;)

Here is Mr. Eli...................

Baby "H"

This family was the sweetest! We did the shoot at grandma and grandpa's house. When I arrived I was greeted with a huge smile and felt so welcomed. I was even invited to stay after the shoot and enjoy a meal, but due to the Vikings game I declined. I had been away from home all weekend and figured I'd give my husband a break to watch the game.

Baby "H" did a fabulous job at her first photo shoot. She was patient (as patient as a newborn can be) and let me swaddle and position her. She must have been excited for her shoot because she didn't sleep much. I tend to get the excited ones that don't want to sleep. It's okay because she is so pretty. It allowed us to see her beautiful eyes.

Alice in Wonderland and a tutu

K came to me with an idea of trying an Alice in Wonderland photo session. I thought it was a brilliant idea and booked a session with her.

When I arrived at the location of the shoot, I about passed out when I set eyes on R's tutu. It was full of sass and fun!

See what I mean??
A has some beautiful brown eyes...

K, A and R all together...

Now... Alice in Wonderland..

I am happy with the turnout of this session. One thing I do wish is that I would have been better prepared with more ideas for the Alice in Wonderland part. It was a great opportunity and learning lesson.

Thanks K, A and R!

Practice session

A few weeks ago a fellow photographer, Brooke Delano, and I held a practice session. We had some amazing models. They were patient as we tried many different poses and many different lighting scenarios in the very hot sun. Like I said, rockstar models.

I took away some great lessons. One thing I really need to remember is to keep an eye on my background. In a nature setting, it's easy to not have distractions. A city shoot is much different. Lots of signs, garbage cans and other distractions. I am not a fan of cloning (probably because I am not too good at it) so I will try to avoid these in the future.

Sending a big thank you to our models and Brooke for a great session.

You probably noticed a lot of serious looks. For some reason, the serious expressions were really working for me that day. Hindsight... I wish I would have gotten more smiles. Another lesson
learned :)

Lisa

My goal as a photographer is to bring out the beauty and personality in my subjects. It wasn't hard to bring out the beauty in Lisa. She is a natural. She was very well prepared with her outfits and knew how she wanted the shoot to go but she was also willing to try anything.

The pictures are a gift for her husband. Boys, be jealous... be very very jealous. Enjoy the show!

Sweet girl Alexa

I had the privilege of taking pictures of 6 week old Alexa. I have one word... adorable. When I first saw her, she took my breath away with her beautiful head of hair. She really is one cute little girl. She was fairly mellow and allowed me to position her without getting feisty. Alexa's mom was prepared with country music when Alexa got a little restless. It calmed her right down and put her back to sleep. Gotta love it!
